The President
The President is a full-time member of the Tribunal appointed by the Governor-in-Council for a term of up to five years. The President provides leadership and direction to members and staff. It is the President’s responsibility to ensure that the Tribunal’s business is conducted in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with the requirements and principles of the Mental Health Act 2016.
Ms Annette McMullan, President, brings to the Tribunal a wealth of legal and professional knowledge and experience, with expertise in areas of health law, administrative law, health regulation and corporate governance. In addition to her legal qualifications, Ms McMullan holds a Bachelor of Nursing having practiced as a registered nurse and midwife for more than 15 years prior to her admission to the Supreme Courts of Queensland and the ACT as a solicitor in 2001. Most recently, Ms McMullan was the Chief Legal Counsel of Queensland Health and has held prior legal roles at Crown Law and Metro North Hospital and Health Service.
